The Perfect Dose of Paradise Guaranteed to Leave You Wanting More
Immediately after landing in Florida, I found myself longing to feel the heat of the beaming sun just once more. After days of being back in a routine of class, quizzes and stress, I wished to be sitting in my bikini with toes in the sand, book in hand, listening to the tranquilizing sounds of the waves. Now, with the uncertainty, confusion, and social-distancing in place because of COVID-19, I'm longing to be on the beach once again.

I can't thank my boyfriend enough for his generosity and his unwavering, adventurous spirit. On Valentine's Day I was surprised with two tickets for us to travel to St. Thomas for spring break! It was a trip I was dreaming of but wrote off as unrealistic. And let me tell you - I could NOT be happier Andy was able to plan such an incredible trip, despite our conflicting schedules.
Every detail was memorable and I owe that all to him and his family. From the place to stay, transportation, recommendations on things to do, places to eat, every last tip that made the trip perfect, was all their doing.
From the clear blue waters to the mountainous landscapes, the beauty of God's creation is undeniable and all around phenomenal in the Virgin Islands. The blue of the water alone is incomparable to any beach I've been to in Florida.
Our trip lasted from a Thursday afternoon to a Sunday afternoon and we surely made the most of our time. After getting situated in the condo with groceries, gas in the car, and food in our bodies the first day, we woke up Friday ready to experience the Island Life. As part of Andy's plan, Friday we found ourselves laying in the sand of the beautiful shores of Magen's Bay, arguably one of the most breathtaking beaches. After experiencing a few short sun-showers in the morning, the day did not disappoint as we saw turtles in the water, explored the more rockier areas, and had some delicious beach-bar food and drinks.

Saturday was agreeably our favorite day of the tip. Even after waking up looking like a lobster from the day before, I was ready to bask in the sun again - this time on the sunny shores of St. John. We took a ferry to the other U.S. island and then hopped on a taxi headed to Trunk Bay. After a lovely day quite similar to the one before, as it involved even more tanning (adding to my uneven burn), exploring, and eating, we took the taxi back to Cruz Bay to enjoy some delicious appetizers at The Longboard (highly recommend the chips & queso and a frozen painkiller.) After shopping a bit, we headed back to St. Thomas in time for dinner at one of Andy's go-to restaurants, Tap & Still in Redhook.
Sunday we packed our stuff, dreading the fact we had to leave, but left enough time for a trip to Charlotte Amalie to shop and get a mouthwatering bite to eat from Andy's favorite - Mr. Big Life's food truck. Throughout the weekend we also ate at Sudi's Caribbean Bar & Grille and Pesce, a delicious Italian restaurant. Of course, we stopped for ice cream multiple times and enjoyed lunches on the beach.
I would, without a doubt, repeat this vacation 100 times over. I am not certain there is a more relaxing way or more beautiful place to be to spend spring break. Do not be surprised if next time we only book a one-way trip (and with my classes being moved to online because of the coronavirus I may actually find myself escaping much sooner than expected!)
